Over ten million photos were uploaded to Instagram during American Thanksgiving. Instagram was reportedly seeing roughly 200 uploads per second during the holiday between peak hours of 10am and 6pm EST. The folks at Instagram have labeled this as its most successful day of all time.
This report comes just weeks after Instagram’s CEO said that Hurricane Sandy was the most well documented event of all time. More than one million photos were uploaded to Instagram using various hurricane hashtags during the disaster. During the hurricane, Instagram was seeing roughly 10 uploads per second. While both Sandy and Thanksgiving may seem like huge milestones for Instagram, the service still pales in comparison to its parent company, Facebook. Facebook receives roughly 300 million photo uploads on an average day.
