G-form is known for some of the most protective iPad and laptop sleeves on the market. In the past, the company has run over iPads with cars and they’ve even thrown them from airplanes. Recently, the company has announced that it will be releasing a line of cases under the name XTREME at CES 2013 next week. The case is made for the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III. The XTREME case retails for $39.99 via G-Form’s website.
To test the G-Form XTREME, the company attached an iPod touch inside of the XTREME case to a weather ballon. The iPod was housed in the XTREME case for iPhone 5 and was sent 100,000 feet above the earth’s surface. Once the weather balloon popped, the iPod began its decent. Once the device hit the ground, the G-Form team tracked the iPod down and found it to be still functioning. Luckily for us, the whole experiment was filmed and thrown on YouTube.
So, how did the iPod survive a 100,000+ foot drop? For starters, the XTREME case is made out of G-Form’s Reactive Protection Technology. This technology makes up the inner shell of the case and hardens on impact, absorbing all possible damage.
