If you’re a Gmail addict, you’ll be overjoyed to hear this news. Today, Google released an update for its iOS app, which brings it to version 1.3. This update brings the ability to save photos from your emails to your device. More importantly, Google also released a performance update to the Gmail app for iOS. This update will supposedly bring smoother scrolling and even faster animations to the app. You can think of this update as ‘Project Butter’ for Gmail’s iOS app.
If you’re unaware, Gmail for iOS is a proprietary app for the iPhone and iPad that is meant to compete with the Mail app that is built into iOS. This app is great for Gmail users as it features a similar user interface to the web client as well as other features such as threaded conversations and spam reporting. However, if you use any other mail service besides Gmail, this app will be utterly useless to you.
If you’re a Gmail user that uses Gmail for iOS, why do you use the Gmail app versus Apple’s standard Mail client? Let us know by leaving a comment on this post! If you don’t already have the app, download it by clicking the link below this post.
