If you’re an avid jailbreaker, you know the pains of trying to find out if your iPhone or other iOS device is jailbreakable. And while tech blogs normally cover new jailbreaks the instant they come out, you might not always be at your device the minute a jailbreak hits the interwebs.
Luckily for you, a new web app can show you if your device is jailbreakable or not simply by inputting your device model and firmware version into the web app. JailbreakStats can be viewed by heading over to their site on your iPhone.
Once you’ve completely loaded the JailbreakStats website, you’ll immediately notice two drop down menus: one for inputting your device model and another for inputting your firmware version. You can input both of these by tapping on the drop down menu and filling them out with your device’s information. Once you’ve done this, hit the “check status” button and a popup will appear telling you the jailbreak status of your device.
For instance, an iPhone 4 running iOS 6 would come up with a tethered jailbreak while an iPhone 5 running the same firmware would come up saying that the jailbreak is still in progress — it’s as simple as that. Talk about handy.
