Siri can be really useful for a lot of things, but I never thought that it would help in returning your phone to you in the event it was left behind. And no, this isn’t some Apple prototype where your iPhone sprouts legs BMO style (Forget the watch, Apple; make sentient little walking iPhones for next year).
This tip is really for someone who finds a lost iPhone: If you need to identify an iPhone owner, you can hold down the Home button to activate Siri. You then ask Siri, “Who owns this iPhone?” You should then get the name Siri calls the owner and the contact card with all of their information. (You’ll also figure out what stupid name the owner has asked Siri to call them.)
I tried doing the same thing on my iPad, but it doesn’t seem to set an owner. I looked around Apple’s support pages to see if there was something I was supposed to do in contacts to set myself as the owner, but wasn’t able to find anything. So at this point, this trick only works if you find someone’s lost iPhone.
