Apple Vice President and Corporate Controller, Betsy Rafael, plans to retire from the company on October 10, 2012. She has been responsible for managing the company’s finances since she joined the Apple team in early 2008.
Rafael’s retirement was first revealed on June 28 in an SEC filing. She is also Apple’s Principal Accounting Officer.
Before she joined Apple, Rafael worked for Cisco from 2003 to 2006 as the Principal Accounting Officer and from 2006 to 2007 she was the Vice President and Corporate Controller. Apple has not yet stated who will be replacing Rafael.
Bob Mansfield Packing It In, Retiring Too
News of Rafael’s retirement comes at the same time that it was announced that Bob Mansfield, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will also be leaving Apple. Apple has not yet said when his last day will be.
Apple’s current Vice President of iPad Hardware Engineering, Dan Riccio, will be replacing Mansfield. Riccio has been with Apple since 1998, when he was hired as Vice President of Product Design. The engineering team, however, will still report to Mansfield until the time of his departure.
Mansfield started at Apple in 2005 and was in charge of Mac Hardware Engineering. In 2008 he was given a pay upgrade to Senior Vice President of Mac Hardware Engineering and in 2010 he also took on responsibility for hardware engineering for iPod and iPad. The company said he has overseen iPad Hardware Engineering since its beginning
