Samsung is continuing to make significant pushes on its marketing front. The New York Post is reporting that the company is close to signing Jay-Z for a deal that will net the rapper turned businessman a cool $20 million.
It seems like the partnership with Samsung might be a bit more than just some simple celebrity endorsement commercials, with the Post saying that Jay and Samsung may work together “to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices.” So from the sounds of it, the two groups may be working together to develop some sort of Jay-Z app, although it is still quite unclear.
Samsung is known to spend a massive amount of money on advertising, with the company having also teamed up in the past with popular celebrities like LeBron James. Samsung reportedly spent over $4 billion on advertising last year alone, quadrupling the amount spent by Apple.
We’ll have to wait and see what exactly the company’s deal with Jay-Z entails, but personally, I’m hoping it has him just casually dropping the name Samsung in all of his new songs.
