Usually, Call of Duty games get massive marketing campaigns that start several months before their release. When it comes to iOS, however, there isn’t quite as much of a marketing push. This is clear in today’s unexpected release of Call of Duty: Strike Team, a game that wasn’t even announced prior to today.
Strike Team is an iOS exclusive which was released today on the App Store for $6.99. While it doesn’t have a traditional Call of Duty multiplayer experience, it does have a number of cool sounding features which make it sound interesting.
The year is 2020. Tensions run high amongst the world’s superpowers. In a surprise attack, the U.S. finds themselves in a war with an unknown enemy. Your mission is to lead a Joint Special Operations Team in a global effort to hunt down those responsible.
Play your way. Switch between first-person and third-person action at almost any time. Strategically customize the members of your squad with weapons, perks or body armor.
CAMPAIGN MODE: Experience an immersive single-player campaign full of epic, cinematic moments in diverse locations around the world.
SURVIVAL MODE: Put your skills to the test as you fight off waves of increasingly difficult enemies. Compete against family, friends and the Call of Duty®: Strike Team community for leaderboard domination.
The game requires at least an iPhone 4s to run, so iPhone 4 users need not apply. Along with the base game cost, Strike Team also brings with it in-app purchases, which allow users to purchase tokens they can then use to unlock things such as new guns. Tokens can equally be earned by playing through the game and earning XP.
If you’re a fan of shooters on iOS, perhaps you should give this one a look.
