Saturday Night Live has been known to make fun of just about everything, and this weekend the show took a turn at mocking Apple’s new iPhone 5 and all the complaints that it’s received since the release, including Apple Maps, the camera, and how the aluminum shell gets scuffed so easily.
The skit, which included the night’s guest host Christina Applegate, featured three tech writers on a show called “Tech Talk.” The panel looked at the iPhone 5 and each panelist took a turn criticizing the iPhone 5’s flaws. Then, the host welcomed three Chinese factory workers who assembled the iPhone 5 (Foxconn isn’t actually mentioned) and they start to sarcastically show their sympathy to the bloggers. They say things like, “You want Starbucks and it takes you to Dunkin’ Donuts. That must be so hard for you,” obviously referencing the poor working conditions that the factory workers face.
All in all, the skit was perfect. Normal people don’t care about the pedantic problems that have been circulating the tech press over the last month. This video is pretty much SNL’s way of telling everyone to shut up.
