If there’s one thing that would make me really happy it would be a cross-platform sync between all my Apple gear. Grant and I joked on an upcoming podcast that if we could sum up our bitching this year we pretty much focused on Telcos being dicks, and Syncing still being carried out like it’s 1995.
Apple seems to be listening because they’re researching some “Grab & Go” technology. It’s nothing ground breaking in and of itself (think dropbox), but this new patent highlights Apple’s brain trust thinking about the Cloud in more ways than Mobile Me. Oh, who am I kidding, it’ll probably be tied to Mobile Me.
Anyway, this is a technology that can’t come soon enough. If they tie application syncing between machines into this whole thing, my mind will be blown.
I’m not one to jump on the bandwagon of Apple rumours, but this one seems right up my ally. I never hold me breath with this stuff, but man, it seems like a match made in heaven, and it’s about time.
I don’t want to have to think about syncing my files across my machines with rsync or dropbox, I want to set up what machines are syncing once. If they give us the option to sync certainly folders/application with certain devices, and have it customizable for each platform, I’ll be in heaven.
Help me Steve, you’re my only hope!
