With Blockbusters closing all over the place, more and more people are already moving to digital distribution alternatives like Netflix. When that happens, it’s only a matter of time until the major studios notice and follow the crowd. Today Netflix and Miramax have entered into a multi-year agreement that will let Netflix users instantly watch Miramax films in the U.S.
The plan is to roll out films starting in June on a rotating basis. There’s no mention of what exactly a rotating basis means at this point. If it’s anything like the iTunes rotating availability, it could mean that certain movies will only be available for a certain amount of time.
Titles that Miramax will be bringing to Netflix could include: Clerks, Kill Bill, Cold Mountain, The English Patient, as well as more than 700 other pictures.
Netflix U.S. just got a whole lot better today, and hopefully Canada will see some similar love in the upcoming months.
