Facebook Gifts, a recently added Facebook feature that allows for gifting of real world items, has just started to sell iTunes gift cards. Facebook users in the United States can gift iTunes gift cards in $10, $15, $25 and $50 denominations. Finally, Facebook Gifts allows the sender to recommend items in the iTunes store to the recipient, though the iTunes gift card sent will act as any other iTunes gift card would.
If you’d like to send an iTunes gift card to one of your Facebook friends, go to his or her Facebook Timeline and hit the gift button. You can then choose the gift that you would like to send. The recipient will then receive a notification letting him or her know that a gift was received along with instructions on how to redeem it.
If you weren’t already aware, Facebook Gifts was launched this past September as an attempt to generate more revenue. Facebook has partnered with many companies such as Starbucks to allow for gift card gifting via Facebook Gifts. One nice thing about Facebook Gifts is the fact that a recipient of a gift can choose to exchange the gift before receiving it without the sender ever knowing. As of now, only Facebook users in the United States can send each other Facebook gifts. We should soon see the service extended to users in other countries.
