There are a lot of laser etched cases available on the internet, they’re kind of the new hotness right now. While you can usually find some pre-etched offerings and purchase from a catalog, there doesn’t seem to be anyone offering decent custom laser etchings of your choosing.
A new startup — based out of my lovely home town of Ottawa, ON — has put together a company that lets you upload your own images to the website and get your own custom laser etched case.
The Woody Co. already has a number of pre-cut cases (iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S), but for a couple of dollars more you can get your very own, one of a kind laser etched iPhone case.
The fine folks at The Woody Co. sent me a case with the Macgasm logo on it and I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now. It’s slim, and fits in the pocket snuggly. The wood part of the case is a bit of a veneer, with a plastic shell behind it so you can easily snap the phone in and out of the case without breaking the wood.
At first I was bummed about that, but then I remembered back to testing another all wood case (it was $80.00) that didn’t last longer than two weeks before the wood around the buttons and mute toggle broke off. The plastic ensure that won’t happen, which is a huge plus for me.
A custom etched case will set you back $59.00. Not too shabby when you consider that it’s etched USING FREAKIN LASERS. Plus, it smells good too.
