Some Apple TV owners who have updated their device with the latest software are experiencing problems that result in the device no longer working. After running the software update on the Apple TV, a number of people noted that the hardware showed a blinking light and nothing but a black screen on their TVs. Others said their Apple TV couldn’t connect to their network anymore after updating, leaving the device completely useless.
Some have found that downgrading the Apple TV software has worked as a possible fix for those who have experienced this issue. To do this, you need to install an IPSW restore file from Apple, plug the Apple TV into a Mac or PC with a micro USB cable, and force restore the software through iTunes.
The lastest software for the Apple TV launched in September. With it came support for Shared Photo Streams and the added ability to send audio content from the Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices, like the Airport Express.
