It’s official. Apple is shutting down its iWork.com beta online service today, which means the ability to store and sync documents for Keynote, Pages, and Numbers through iWork.com will no longer exist.
Apple let us know back in March that they planned on shutting down the service, and warned that everyone should copy files from the website back to a local computer to avoid data loss. After today, any files stored in iWork.com accounts will be deleted and removed from the service.
But don’t worry, iWork.com users who have Mountain Lion on their Macs have another option. Apple used the file synchronization features from iWork.com and integrated them into iCloud. The only downside is that iCloud doesn’t include iWork.com’s document collaboration features. iCloud accounts are available for free.
So if you still have files in your account, make sure you copy them somewhere else in the next couple of hours or everything will be lost. You’ve been warned.
