Most people agree that the iPad is a great and interactive way to view school textbooks. Well, now more people can be swayed, as the iBooks Textbooks feature has just been expanded to users in several new countries.
Users in countries such as Brazil, Italy, Japan can now purchase Apple’s interactive textbooks, while those in Russia, Thailand, and Malaysia now have access to the iTunes U Course Manager.
Apple doesn’t specify all of the new countries that the features have come to, so you might have to check for yourself to see if your country got them. It does state, however, that iBooks Textbooks are now available in over 50 countries, while the iTunes U Course Manager is now available in over 70 countries.
“iPad is so much more than just a textbook or just a notepad for students—it’s a powerful educational tool, a study partner, a window into the past and a glimpse of the future,” said Sophie Post, fourth grade history teacher at UK’s Falkner House school. “Teaching history was once a static timeline of events. In leveraging the entire educational ecosystem of iPad, creating my own iBooks Textbooks and iTunes U courses, and pulling in apps like History: Maps of the World, studying history has suddenly become a creative, dynamic and truly transformative experience for my pupils.
If you’re sick of heavy textbooks and papercuts, maybe you should give iBooks Textbooks a try.
