Last Friday, we told you that Rovia had teased a new game announcement for what appeared to be a sequel to Angry Birds Star Wars. Today, the company unveiled this teased game and just as expected, it’s Angry Birds Star Wars II.
The game is set to launch on September 19th, and will cover the three Star Wars prequels. The game will let players control over 30 different characters from the Star Wars universe and it will let them choose to side with either the Rebellion or the Empire.
The game will also feature a partnership with Hasbro, where players can go to retail stores and buy “telepods.” Telepods are action figures that players can scan directly into their games through their device’s camera, removing the need to scroll through menus to switch characters.
The game’s developer Rovio says it will continue to reveal more information about the game as we continue to approach its launch. It certainly seems like it’s the biggest push Rovio’s made with a game thus far, so if you’re at all interested in Angry Birds, you should keep an eye on it.
Also for all those concerned, Rovio stated. “At this point we will not comment on rumors or speculation that Jar Jar Binks will be in the game.”
