Screen captures of internal builds of iTunes 11 have reportedly been leaked. In this leak is confirmation that iTunes 11 will support iOS 6, but more interestingly, it will sport better integration with iCloud.
Mark Gurman, 9to5Mac:
iTunes 11 includes an increased presence of iCloud integration. Perhaps the biggest testament to this is a dedicated iCloud settings panel within iTunes. This panel is a centralized, always accessible spot for users to control iCloud related features while in iTunes. These features include iTunes Match, iTunes in the Cloud, iCloud iOS device backups and more.
This all makes sense. Even if the specific screenshots are fake, none of this is particularly controversial or surprising. It’s a safe bet that the next version of iTunes will have both iOS 6 support and enhanced iCloud support. Apple is clearly betting big with iCloud, and it has been pretty successful so far, it seems.
As it stands, iTunes handles a lot of things — music, podcasts, TV shows, movies, apps, books, and syncing. Much like Snow Leopard was a release of OS X that focused on trimming the fat, perhaps iTunes 11 can be a cruft-reduction release. That would certainly be nice.
