Today at Apple’s quarterly earnings call, Tim Cook confirmed that OS X Mountain Lion will indeed be released via the Mac App Store tomorrow. OS X Mountain Lion will retail for $19.99 and will only be available digitally, unlike other releases of OS X which were distributed via DVDs or flash drives. If a user purchased a new Mac running OS X Lion on or after June 11th, 2012, they will receive an update to Mountain Lion free of charge after filling out a form. OS X Mountain Lion took people by surprise when it was announced in early 2012.
OS X Mountain Lion is set to bring a ton of new features to Mac OS X, such as AirPlay Mirroring, Game Center for Mac as well as many other neat features, which not only improve the functionality of Mac OS X, but the speed as well. Apple has stated that over 200 updates have been added to OS X in Mountain Lion. This update will be available for most current Intel Macs made on or after 2008. The gold master build of OS X 10.8 was seeded to developers just two weeks ago, and was released with no reported flaws.
