The folks at MacPaw have just announced the next major release of CleanMyMac, the popular Mac drive cleaning software. CleanMyMac 2 will be available next month and has been completely redone from the ground up. The purpose of CleanMyMac is to clean old and useless files off of your Mac’s hard drive or SSD.
After years of use, your Mac’s drive tends to get filled up with old binaries, international language files and other junk you either don’t need or don’t want. CleanMyMac easily erases these files for you, clearing up valuable space on your Mac’s drive. The application will also clear up leftover files from uninstalled applications that were left behind.
Personally, my favorite feature of CleanMyMac 2 would have to be iPhoto Cleanup. This feature cleans up unneeded service photos and copies of images from your iPhoto library. This feature will be invaluable to photographers with extremely large iPhoto libraries.
The best part about CleanMyMac 2 is its upgraded user-interface. The new UI is basic, but it’s very clean-cut and is filled with dark colors and beautiful graphics. Unlike previous releases of CleanMyMac, all of the app’s features are displayed from the get-go, so you don’t have to travel through multiple menus before hitting the the feature you want to use. We’ve embedded a few screen shots above for your viewing pleasure.
CleanMyMac 2 will be released to the public in February for $29.95. All current users of CleanMyMac will be upgraded to version 2.0 free of charge.
