Apple’s super-slim 2012 iMac has started to pop up on some Apple Authorized Resellers websites. Resellers including Amazon.com, MacMall and MacConnection, among others, have started to offer some models of the computers on their websites. It looks as if all sellers have received limited quantities of most standard models of the computer along with some customized 21.5-inch models.
As of the time of writing this article, both Amazon.com and MacConnection are sold out of all new iMacs except for the low end 27-inch model. On the other hand, MacMall has most models in stock, except for the low end 21.5-inch models. B&H Photo and Video currently only has high end and mid-range 27-inch models in stock. If you’re in the market for a new iMac and can find one from one of the listed resellers, you should purchase quickly as the Apple Online Store is currently sold out of all 2012 iMacs.
This is the first time we’ve seen Apple sell the new iMacs via third-party retailers. Apple has been experiencing major supply constraints since the computer was unveiled on October 23, 2012. However, we heard last week that Apple may have finally gotten over these supply constraints, and this is probably why they are popping up in third-party online retailers’ stock. If you’d prefer to order your iMac via the Apple Online Store, expect to wait 2-3 weeks for a 21.5-inch model or 3-4 weeks for a 27-inch model.
