With the iPhone 4 and 4S, Apple sold the famous Bumper Case for $29 via the Apple Store. The Bumper was killed with the release of the iPhone 5 and Apple decided to let third parties take over the case market. Because of this, the Apple Store has yet to stock any iPhone 5 accessories beyond headphones, cables and adapters. However, this may soon change according to 9to5mac. They’ve said that Apple will begin to sell third-party cases at their retail stores the week of October 22.
As of now, we’re not completely sure if Apple will be stocking these cases on their online store as well.
If you need your case fix a bit earlier and are in the United States, AT&T has a wide variety of cases available in store. If ordering online is your thing, you can purchases iPhone 5 cases now from Switcheasy, SGP, Speck Products and Otterbox. From past experience, we should see cases from Incase and Speck stocked at Apple Stores, but we’ll have to wait and see.
