There are plenty of alarm clock apps out there that do their darndest to wake you up, but it’s not too often they can get you out of bed on the first try. “Sleep If U Can,” by Korean developer Delight Room, does just that. To shut the alarm off you have to get out of bed and take a picture of a pre-determined place.
Sleep If U Can works with both iOS and Android devices. The idea is to keep your alarming going off until you get out of bed and take a picture of the place you’ve registered. So instead of reaching over with your eyes half closed and fumbling with the off button, you have to physically get up and walk somewhere away from your bed, which effectively wakes you up. Well, unless you set the image to your bedside table.
The app is even smart enough to make sure you take a picture of the correct object so it won’t work if you have something similar lying next to your bed. A good place to register is the bathroom sink, front door, shelf, desk or a specific object far away from your bed. Places that aren’t a good idea to register are spots where the brightness changes frequently, close to your bed, ceiling, or the floor.
The bathroom is probably the best place, because you can just jump in the shower since you’re already up instead of walking all the way back to bed.
If you’re always looking for a better wake-up solution this could be just what you need. It’s available in the App Store for just $1.99 so you should definitely check it out.
