With the United States presidential election right around the corner, many people are disappointed in both candidates. And whether or not you agree with them, I think we can all agree on one thing: iOS and Android would be better presidential candidates. With neither of the two trying to hide anything, there’s only one thing left to do: vote. And that’s just what Apsalar has tried to do with the infographic above.
In the infographic, we can see that Apsalar has broken up all fifty states into either iOS or Android states. iOS states are red while Android states are blue. Apsalar took information from over 100 million smartphones across the nation to find that, if both the iOS and Android platforms were presidential candidates, iOS would win 32 states in the popular vote while Android would only take 18. These numbers were calculated by how many unique iOS or Android devices were activated in each state. The electoral college vote, however, would be a much slimmer win for iOS. iOS would take 304 electoral college votes while Android would grab 234.
One thing I find funny about this infographic is the fact that Windows Phone, Blackberry OS and Symbian aren’t represented at all on the map, kind of like third parties aren’t in the United States today. The graph also surprises me a bit. Some states that I thought would be “iPhone states” are “Android states” and vice versa.
