British photographer Adam Rhoades has built and developed an iPhone-powered photo enlarger that prints (there’s one risqué boudoir photo, but no nudity on the site. You’ve been warned!) images from the iPhones screen using a traditional darkroom printing system that’s comprised of a 35mm enlarger equipped with a 50mm lens.
Rhoades uses the setup, and a grain focuser to show the images in stunning detail. The photographer doesn’t use the iPhone to do any processing; instead, he only uses the iPhone to flip the image and invert the colors so that his prints don’t appear inverted or mirrored. The results are stunning.
… And just like that the Digital Negative was born.
