PopCap Games, the creators of Plants vs. Zombies, announced today with an all-new trailer when Plants vs. Zombies 2 would be released for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The trailer also teases some new plants and new worlds that you can expect to see in the highly anticipated sequel.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 will launch worldwide on Thursday, July 18 exclusively on the iOS platform. Next week, the game will be previewed by invitation only at E3 in Los Angeles.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 has been designed from the ground up and players will see “new worlds with new levels, plants, zombies and and new ways to play” released on an on-going basis. The game will also include all-new touch-screen power-ups that will hep players “break the fourth wall” and interact directly with zombies and plant defenses.
“It’s about time!” Allen Murray, Senior Producer for Plants vs. Zombies 2, said. “We’re confident that players will see the love and attention we’ve put into this game. We’ve created wild new ways to experience the plants and zombies you know and love as well as packing the game with tons of completely new content, and we’re still hard at work coming up with even more cool stuff that will keep Plants vs. Zombies 2 fresh and evolving in the months and years following launch.”
Plants vs. Zombies 2 will be free to download, featuring the classic gameplay along with all-new levels, plants and zombies in different worlds at no extra cost. PopCap explains that, while most of the game will be free to play, players can also purchase upgrades and other in-game items. Players will still be able to “face every zombie and access every level in every world at no cost.”
