Netflix, a popular movie streaming service, has updated their iOS app to better support iOS 6 and the iPhone 5. This app brings a native widescreen experience to the iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch. Because of this, both of the devices can take advantage of 16:9 widescreen movies with their new 4-inch screens. 16:9 is the current industry standard for widescreen movies and TV shows.
Along with 4-inch screen support, the latest update to the Netflix app also brings an overhaul to the design. Netflix’s new interface has been given the “tile treatment”. Each movie on your Home screen has been turned into a tile in which you can tap for more information or double tap to start the stream. These controls seem much more intuitive than the previous Netflix app, which was less than stellar.
While I’m not a Netflix subscriber (I’m an Amazon guy), the app does look good from the screenshots posted online. I also think it’s nice to see app developers updating their apps for the iPhone 5’s 4-inch screen so early on.
If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you should definitely grab this app. If for some reason you don’t already have it installed, we’ve thrown a download link below this post
