Liquipel: No need for your iPhone to be afraid of water anymore

Liquipel is hoping that they can make your phone, and other electronics, a little more water resistant. By placing your iPhone into a vacuum chamber and introducing some magic, the company can make your iPhone waterproof. Liquipel introduces some vapour into the chamber, letting the gas permeate all the nooks and crannies of your phone, then binds the coating to your device on a “molecular” level with science. From there, it’s all waterproof, all the time.

Why aren’t phones waterproof? With all the hubbub over companies denying warranty claims because of water damage, it’s pretty obvious that phones could use some water resistant coating, if not an entirely waterproof coating.

The Liquipel process requires you to send in your phone, and then costs between $59.00 and $79.00 depending on the type of process you want to purchase. Hopefully, at some point in the near future, this kind of process will happen for all consumer electronics, before they ship from the factories they were created in.
