There’s big problems with the white iPhones, and we’re finally getting confirmation from Apple about the device. Apple hasn’t come right out and said why the trendy white model isn’t shipping, but we’ve been hearing rumours of a problem with the white paint used in the device.
Officially, Apple said “White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year.” Luckily for most, the black edition of iPhone 4 will continue to be for sale, and availability will not be affected by manufacturing problems.
What makes this curious is Steve Jobs said during the iPhone 4 keynote that the white version was on schedule to ship mid-July. As much as it sucks, I had to chuckle a little when I read this notice. Historically, Canada as well as other countries have experienced delayed releases for new Apple products. The iPad, for example, was delayed two or three times.
So, how’s it feel being Canadian?
