After a very long beta period, The Hit List — a GTD app from The Potion Factory — is available to the public for $49.99.
The Mac app features an Inbox, “Today” and “Upcoming” views, with projects, timers and more to help the user get things done.
The interface is quite cheery, taking on the look of folders and cards. While I don’t like a lot of apps that are designed to look like actual objects, it is all tastefully done. Its UI kills the one OmniFocus is currently sporting.
Feature wise, The Hit List is on par with most of what OmniFocus offers. It has repeating tasks and OTA sync, two things that Things.app can’t seem to get working quite right. While it lacks OmniFocus’ Perspectives features — and an iPad companion — I think most people could get by with this new app just fine.
The iPhone app is currently under review with Apple, and should be released soon. Unlike Things, The Hit List has OTA sync, but unlike OmniFocus, it’s another $20/year.
For what it’s worth, I’m happy with OmniFocus, and won’t be changing apps anytime soon, but this one looks like a great contender. Check it out on the App Store via the link below, or download a trial from the developer’s site.
