Byword is an app for both Mac and iOS that makes writing better and easier with Markdown and today both versions of the app have received a major update, bringing it to version 2.0. Byword first launched as an app for the Mac in March 2011 and arrived for iOS as a universal the following year.
Byword 2.0 for the Mac brings these new additions:
- Keep scroll position on Markdown preview
- Copy rich text to clipboard
- Application Sandboxing
- Many fixes and improvements
Similarly, the update to Byword for iOS includes:
- All documents are now downloaded automatically when connected to WiFi for offline availability
- Full featured offline support in Dropbox including rename, duplicate and delete documents
- Move and duplicate documents between folders on iCloud, Dropbox and device storage
- Improved conflict resolution with visual inspection of each conflicting version
- Better integration with other apps via Open in…
- Keep scroll position on Markdown preview
- New font options and adjustable font size
- Many fixes and other improvements
On top of that, the new updates include a new premium upgrade option that enables publishing to WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger, Scriptogram, and Evernote without needing to leave the app to do it. Unfortunately, this feature comes with a price tag. It’s offered as a one-time in-app purchase on both platforms for $4.99.
Byword 2.0 for both Mac and iOS can be downloaded now on the App Store and the Mac App Store.
