It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on private social networking, news consumption, and computer speed.
Ready? Let’s begin.
iPhone/iPod touch:
Path: This app was released last year. Although it was beautifully designed, made by a brilliant team, and had a strong focus, it lacked in traction. Unlike some developers who ditch the project when it doesn’t explode, Dave Morin and team reinvented the app. They rebuilt it from the ground up. The 2.0 version that was released this week features a new design, covers, automatic journaling, music, sleep, and check-in system. Think of it as a pretty Facebook for actual friends — not the 1,000+ people you friend requested to get your friend numbers up. In other words, unless we mutually know each other, dont “path” me. “Path” your friend.

iPad:
FLUD: One week ago, FLUD was just another RSS reader for the iPad, but with a pretty cool UI. Soon, it will be much more than that. Until then, I’ll tell you this. FLUD brings you awesome news in an awesome way. For those of you who have no idea how to add RSS feeds, it provides top feeds in categories from technology to sports and everything else in between. By the way, we’re included in the featured tech sources. Just saying.

Mac:
MemoryFreer: Nothing fancy. Quite simple actually. You see, an effective app doesn’t have to be one with all sorts of design and functionalities. Rather, what makes an effective app is something that actually does what it says it will do. That is just the case with MemoryFreer. It lets you free up inactive memory on your Mac that is weighing down your RAM. “It greatly improves the performance of your memory-hungry applications such as Photoshop, Safari/Firefox, Office, iWork, Parallel/VMware, etc.” This is all done with the click of a button, literally. The app can function as a memory usage monitor, with real-time usage shown as a pie chart in your menubar. Did I mention that for the time being, it’s 75 percent off? Snatch it while you can!
