Today, at the paidContent Mobile Conference in New York City, Peter Vesterbacka, the head of Rovio, announced that Angry Birds had reached a total of 200 million downloads for all free and paid versions combined. It includes all versions of Angry Birds for the iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac, and Web. This also includes Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio.
Rovio also announced that they are working on the release of an Angry Birds children’s picture book, in coordination with Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Google. The company is also working with animators on the production of an Angry Birds animated movie. Rovio is also working with Chinese companies on the manufacture and introduction of new Angry Birds accessories, such as lunch boxes and toys.
The announcement firmly places Angry Birds in the position of best-selling mobile app of all time, and best-selling mobile game of all time. The company also released some other amazing details. People have spent an average of 200 million minutes playing the game every day. The company has also achieved a strikingly impressive 10 million downloads of the custom-built Angry Birds Rio in just 10 days for an amazing total of 1 million downloads every 24 hours.
