MuscleNerd dropped an interesting bomb for jailbreakers today: “Think we’ve figured out a way to extend PwnageTool+limera1n+@comex hacks to untethered JBs for all future A4 firmwares.” So, what does that mean in english? Well, all iOS devices will be “jailbreakable” until Apple patches their hardware in future devices. Retroactively speaking, if you already own an iOS device with an A4 chipset, you should be able to jailbreak it indefinitely, despite software updates.
So, if you’re the type of person who absolutely needs to jailbreak your devices, then you’re going to want to check out any of the following device: iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad or Apple TV. All of these devices run on an A4 chipset and should be capable of being jailbroken permanently. To add to the excitement, these jailbreaks should be able to be untethered. This means your devices will not require you to reboot your device with a connection to an external system. That’s huge news being announced from MuscleNerd.
In addition to the news already announced, we’re also expecting PwnageTool to be released today for Mac OS X. There’s no news or release just yet, but we should be seeing something shortly. For us OS X users, it’s a giant pain in the rear having to jailbreak our devices in Windows. We’d prefer being able to create custom IPSWs in iTunes on OS X.
We’ll be sure to update you all once PwnageTool is officially released.
