SlideWriter Revolutionizes iOS’s Text Editing Cursor System

When it comes to selecting and editing text in an iOS app, it can be a little bit difficult if you have sausage fingers. SlideWriter, a brand new text editing app for the iPad, not only looks to solve this problem, but it also looks to address some other problems with minimal writing applications on the iPad.

Instead of having to slide your finger over a word to select text, you can slide your finger anywhere on the screen to move the cursor while editing, or copying and pasting text from your documents (check out the video on YouTube). If you’re looking to move the cursor points before copying text, you can use the built in slide bar to adjust the beginning and end point of your selection. It’s more natural, and more efficient than Apple’s current system. While the app is not available on the App Store just yet, it will be available tomorrow for $0.99, and will then increase to $1.99 next week.

Apple needs to buy up SlideWriter immediately and integrate this kind of functionality across iOS from beginning to end. The SlideWriter team is on to something here, and there’s no denying that iOS would be better off with it included system wide.
