Opera is planning on showing off the iPad edition of their browser next week during an event in Barcelona.
According to their numbers, about 105 million people are already using the mobile edition of their browser. Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software, believes they have a part to play in the mobile movement. Boilesen believes that Opera can help reduce battery drain while people surf the internet from mobile devices.
It’ll be interesting to see what the iPad edition of Opera Mobile will entail at this point. Not many browsers for the iPhone or iPad have swayed me from Mobile Safari at this point. It’s not that these browsers aren’t competitive; it’s that Mobile Safari is almost a minimalist approach to browsing the internet. In my opinion, that’s all we need on mobile devices.
But once this ships we’ll be taking it for a spin, and we’ll let you know our thoughts.
