In the past few weeks, images, both supposedly real and physical mockups, have been surfacing of the iPad mini. Now French website, Nowhereelse.fr, has pointed out a new set of images found on Chinese site NetEase that show the alleged rear shell of the iPad mini.
The shell is reportedly a legitimate part leaked from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in Shenzhen, China. The images show both the interior and exterior of the rear shell and include details for the opening of Apple’s smaller dock connector that is expected to be seen in Apple’s iPhone 5 next week, a rear camera hole, and the interior lip where the display and front panel will be attached.
Similar to other recently leaked photos, this rear shell shows little tapering compared to the current third-generation iPad. Instead, it has a rounded profile along the sides.
Apple has confirmed the September 12 event but is said to be focusing on the next-generation iPhone, while supposedly planning a separate media event sometime in October to introduce the rumored iPad mini.
