While most of the tech world is still reeling over the iPad 2 announcement today, there’s one detail that didn’t get much attention during Apple’s keynote, but it is mentioned on the company’s site:
The original iPad can charge over USB, but for some computers, only if the iPad is in sleep mode.
This limitation is outlined in a support document over on Apple’s site.
The tech specs do not spell out the specifics, but it may be that iPad 2 will be able to charge while turned on.
I am not sure how many people would use this, but I know I’d love to have the option of charging my iPad via USB while using it. Hopefully more info will come out in the coming days.
