Apple was rumored to send out invitations on October 10 for an event that would officially unveil the iPad mini, but that day has come and gone and new rumors are pointing to October 23 as the day Apple will unveil the iPad mini.
The supposed event will take place just two days before Apple is set to report its September quarter earnings and three days before Microsoft launches its Surface tablet.
A location for the event has not been specified, but some report that it could likely be at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium, where Apple has introduced a number of products in the past, including OS X Lion, a next-generation MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S.
Since Apple has already held a big media event this fall, at which the iPhone 5 and new iPod lineups were unveiled, it’s likely that the iPad mini event will be on a smaller scale. Other than that, details are scarce. The iPad mini is rumored to feature a 7.85-inch liquid crystal display, a Lightning connector, and will probably be thinner. Hopefully we’ll know more details soon. And by soon, I mean October 23.
