Upgrading your phone? You may as well upgrade your password manager while you’re at it. 1Password, the popular password management software for OS X, iOS, and Windows, is currently free for iOS. The app normally costs $18, and, according to the App Store page, it will receive a free iOS 8-focused update later this year.
1Password for iOS doesn’t just store passwords: The app can also generate new passwords, sign into accounts with 1Browser, and sync account data with 1Password for Mac and PC.
1Password for iOS also nails it with a design that’s easy to get the hang of. Whether you’re a tech wizard or someone who still gets baffled by the TV remote, this app’s got your back. Plus, it’s super secure – the app uses top-notch encryption – like the kind banks use – to keep your details safe, whether they’re just sitting in your account or you’re sending them around. It’s got this thing called PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 (a mouthful, I know), which basically turns your password into a super tough nut to crack. Think decades of head-scratching for any hacker.
But wait, there’s more. Ever heard of a Secret Key? 1Password has one. In the form of a 128-bit code that, combined with your password, locks up your data tighter than a drum. And the best part? You don’t need to remember it – the app handles that for you.
