Apple has expanded iTunes Radio’s talk and news sections, as the company has included content from local National Public Radio (NPR) stations as well as ESPN. NPR’s most popular local stations have been added to iTunes Radio, including WBEZ Chicago and KPCC Los Angeles.
Stations can be added like any other iTunes Radio station: just search for them using the search bar in the iTunes Radio portion of Music.app on iOS or iTunes on the Mac or PC.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Apple include more than just music in iTunes Radio. In March of this year, NPR’s national news programming was made available by way of iTunes Radio, with NPR promising local coverage later in the year.
On the ESPN side of things, the content broadcasted on its iTunes Radio channels will include a mix of live and recorded news. ESPN has promised to broadcast most major sporting events, like the 2014 FIFA World Cup, to its iTunes Radio listeners.
Hopefully Apple adds more news channels to iTunes Radio in the near future!
