Tomorrow is the big day! We’ll be seeing some big announcements from Apple, but that doesn’t stop the rumor mill from churning. Businessman and “Mobile Consultant” Will Strafach came out with some specific details about the supposed next iPod touch. First off, he has the code name and the resolution.
it’s not even worth leaking to press friend’s this close to launch, so: the new iPod5,1 is code name N78AP, and sports a 1136×640 display.

This puts the new screen at 176 pixels taller than the current 960 pixels found in the iPhone 4 and 4S. The width, unsurprisingly, stays the same. Another interesting tidbit that he leaked is that the new iPod touch will be running on a die-shrunk A5 processor like the current iPad 2.
oh wait, another thing worth mentioning: the new iPod touch / N78AP runs on an S5L8942X, NOT an S5L8950X.

These are not particularly controversial claims, and there isn’t much reason to doubt them. This matches up to pretty much everything that we’ve been hearing leading up to the new hardware announcement. That said, nothing is set in stone until it is up on Apple.com. There is no reason to get your panties in a bunch now when we’ll know some actual details in less than a day. Until then, let’s keep our cool.
