Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

While Bioware’s new MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic is all the rage, we can’t forget what started it. In 2003, Bioware released Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic — a story-driven role-playing game that takes place thousands of years before the Star Wars movies. It was critically acclaimed when it was released, and its infamous plot twist and branching plot lines still put KotOR on the top of many “Best Games” lists. If you want to play this fantastic title today, you can pick it up for only $19.99 USD on the App Store.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

Monkey Island is the best known franchise of LucasArts‘ adventure game days. The player embodies the main character: Guybrush Threepwood — a wannabe pirate. Guybrush then goes on a hilarious and tricky adventure to deal with the ghastly pirate LeChuck and win the affection of the beautiful Governor Marley. Originally released in 1990, LucasArts went to the trouble to remake the game in 2009 with brand new artwork, a new score, and full voice acting. It was incredibly well received, and it makes a wonderful game accessible to a new generation of gamers. You can grab The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for your Mac for only $9.99 USD in the App Store.

Psychonauts

Tim Schafer and his company, Double Fine Productions, have been in the news a lot lately thanks to their incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign. Back in 2005, though, they created a critically beloved adventure and action hybrid game called Psychonauts. The main character, a young man with the ability to manipulate objects with his mind, starts out at an academy designed to help train young people to use their powers. Hilarity ensues as the situations become more elaborate and ridiculous. If you want to experience this game in beautiful high definition, you can grab it on the App Store for only $9.99 USD.
