The ability to quickly check out a file by selecting it and then hitting the space bar to see a larger, live view of a document, picture, or video has been around since OS X 10.5 (Leopard). The feature, called Quick Look, has received some love along the way, from one major OS X upgrade to another, and Mountain Lion is no different.
Apple has introduced the ability to “pinch to zoom” for PDFs in Quick Look. If you deal in PDFs, and find yourself opening Preview frequently to glimpse an invoice amount or to double-check some data, you can now open the file in Quick Look and, using two fingers, pinch or pull to zoom in or out like you would on an iOS device.
It’s pretty handy. I’ve already used it half a dozen times since stumbling on the functionality.
