While it’s likely we can all credit a few hours of laughter to iOS 6’s Maps app, it looks like the much-beleaguered update is not entirely without a few upsides. If you’ve ever wanted to share important and not-so-important images with your friends, family and accomplices without having to first email or message the hypothetical images, Shared Photo Streams are going to feel like a dream come true.
Of course, as is always the case with such things, there are certain requirements. Well, actually, there’s only one. In order to make use of a Shared Photo Stream, both parties must have devices that are currently running iOS 6. If not, well, you just have to use the old-fashioned way.
So, how do you actually make this happen? According to App Advice, there are two ways. Firstly, you can elect to watch the handy-dandy video they’ve put up exclusively for this purpose.
Of course, if you’re a fast reader and impatient to get to the meat of things, here’s a condensed version of the instructions found on the site:
- Open the ‘Photos’ app and tap on ‘Photo Stream’.
- Tap on the plus sign in the top left. Enter the email addresses of those who you want to share the Photo Stream with. Create a name for it.
- Add photos. Hit ‘Done’.
That’s essentially it. Those privileged enough to have been invited to your Photo Stream will instantly have the photos pushed to them. No fuss, no mess.
