After we used an app to humanize AI-generated text, we fed its finished product to several well-regarded AI detectors on the internet, including ZeroGPT, QuillBot, Copyleaks, Winston AI, and more. The results were our primary criterion.
- Writing characteristics: As a human writer, I made sure that the AI output of our top 6 had proper grammar, removed common AI “tells”, utilized diverse sentence structures and tempo, and had a clear “non-generic” tone of voice.

First, it offers an extremely generous free “trial” of 120,000 words per month and 4,000 words per check–you probably won’t hit the limit unless you’re checking writing pieces in bulk. It doesn’t even require an account to use. Second, it has a well-designed and non-distracting interface that doesn’t bombard you with pop-ups every few minutes.
Most importantly, Clever AI Humanizer has some of the best “human” scores when tested with AI detection tools (up to 99% and 100%). All the tools we used stated that they were “confident” that the content was written by a human, specifically highlighting its straightforward tone, simple sentence structure, and human-centric writing.
In terms of the writing quality itself, Clever AI Humanizer excels at preserving the logic from the original text and simplifying it. No ideas get lost in “translation.” However, note that you may want to touch up the final product to add nuance and technical flair. The text might be too simple for topics that require complexity to properly convey their concepts.

Rephrasy is a beautiful AI humanizer tool with great human scores (mostly) and useful features, as well as a generous but limited free trial. It’s 3 credits if you sign up for an account with no credit card, and 100 credits if you add your card. Each credit is worth 2,000 words, which can get you a lot of mileage; however, your credits don’t reset when they run out.
Rephrasy gets great human scores on many of the detection tools we used (some scores reaching up to 100% human), but it does get flagged by others. So make sure to check your content with detectors used or suggested by your organization. The app’s biggest drawback is the writing quality of the final product. Here’s why that’s highly advantageous. CleverSpinner is already decent at passing detection tests–while some applications flag it (even partially), increasing the humanizer slider and redoing requests can highly improve its scores. Aside from being resistant to detection, CleverSpinner’s general writing style is better than many of its competitors. WriteHuman AI is one of the newer tools on this list, but it also produces one of the best final products in terms of writing quality and detection. While it does get flagged by some detection apps, WriteHuman AI scores as high as 99% to 100% human on others–so check which tools your organization uses.
Writing quality is the app’s biggest strength. Compared to most of the entries on this list, WriteHuman AI uses more complex words and phrases, making it suitable for academic and professional settings. Word choices aren’t complex just for the sake of it, but are actually effective. However, note that the output isn’t completely free of errors; you’ll still need to edit the final product before submitting it (but not as heavily as with others).
WriteHuman AI’s biggest drawback is its free plan limit. You only get 3 requests per month, and each request can only humanize 200 words–that’s a grand total of 600 words per month, compared to other apps that give you allowances in the thousands. However, you can retry requests on the same content for free, in case the current output fails to pass detection.
