Its hard to remember the days when everyone was locked to an Ethernet cable, but really, it wasn’t that long ago.
Apple was one of the first companies to build Wi-Fi (Apple calls its Wi-Fi-releated technology “Airport”) into consumer devices. To help show it off at MacWorld New York 1999, Steve Jobs had Phil Schiller hold a tangerine clamshell iBook with an accelerometer on it, streaming data to another computer as Schiller jumped out of a window to the stage below.
