Most iPhone/iPod speaker systems are huge, take up tons of desk space, and really aren’t that nice to look at. Some stands are ok, but don’t do anything to help amplify the sound if you want to listen to music.
Enter: The Stand.
The Stand is a new Kickstarter project put together by OutLaaw. It’s an all-in-one stand, amplifier, and charger (when plugged into a wall). It’s simple, it looks great, and it’s got a small footprint. They even designed the stand to be ergonomic when you wrap your hand around it to use the iPhone’s touchscreen. It even works with your cases, which is a deal breaker for a lot of people. Also, it’s a heavier stand, so you won’t have to worry about it wiggling all over the place when trying to dock or undock it (my biggest pet peeve with the Apple docks).
Overall, this stand looks great. It’s only about 5 percent funded right now, but it’s running for almost two more months, so you’ve got plenty of time to go and sign up for yours. If you’re one of the first 300, you can snag one of these for $50, otherwise you’ll pay $59.
