Steve Wozniak Visits With MegaUpload’s Kim DotCom In New Zealand

Entrenched in a fairly public battle with the US government over the legality of MegaUpload, Kim DotCom has found himself gaining support from some pretty important people. According to CNET, Steve Wozniak himself took time to visit with Kim DotCom while on a trip to New Zealand.

From CNET:

During a trip to New Zealand last month, Wozniak stopped by DotCom’s home outside Auckland and took several photographs with the MegaUpload founder who is also the man accused by the United States of criminal copyright violations, money laundering and wire fraud. The United States is trying to extradite DotCom and a hearing in New Zealand to decide the matter is scheduled for August.

It appears that the Woz, EFF, Kim Kardashian, Will.i.am, and Alicia Keys have now publicity shown their support for the MegaUpload founder. The Record Labels U.S. Government is currently trying to extradite DotCom from New Zealand so they can prosecute him for “masterminding a worldwide file-sharing service that US authorities say cost the recording and entertainment industry half-a-billion dollars by enabling copyright infringement on an international scale.” The whole case seems pretty shady to begin with, and it’s not much of a surprise that DotCom is getting a lot of public support, including a New Zealand judge who is demanding that the US hand over its evidence.
