Rogers customers will be happy to hear that the carrier has expanded its LTE coverage to 18 new Canadian markets. Having just celebrated it’s 1 year anniversary of LTE deployment in Canada this past July, the wireless provider is early to deliver on its promise of covering 60 per cent of the Canadian population with this service by 2013.
LTE from Rogers is now available in the following cities:
British Columbia
Abbotsford, Kelowna, Victoria
Alberta
Edmonton
Saskatchewan
Regina, Saskatoon
Ontario
St. Catharines/Niagara, Oshawa/Pickering/Ajax, Windsor, Sudbury, Kingston, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, London, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Barrie
Quebec
Quebec, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières
So what kind of speed are we talking here? Apparently the service can potentially hit peaks of 75Mbps on current devices. That’s more than double Verizon’s speed on its own 4G network. Basically, it’s fast enough to stream high quality HD video and good for multiplayer console gaming.
LTE is already available in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, St. John’s, Moncton and surrounding areas. Rogers was the first carrier to introduce LTE to Canada.
